Fuel prices in Guatemala: a new increase is registered and a gallon of diesel already exceeds that of regular throughout the country

The reference price of diesel for the week of May 3-May 9 in the capital city was located at Q37.73 per gallon, Q2.24 more than the one calculated until Monday, May 2; while regular gasoline reached Q36.20, an increase of Q0.57 per gallon. In the rest of the country, prices are higher.

The monitoring of the MEM reflects that in all the departmental capitals the reference price increased for diesel and even in all places the value of this already exceeds that of a gallon of regular gasoline.

For example, in Huehuetenango, the price of regular gasoline is Q36.98 and diesel is Q38.51; in Quetzaltenango, Q36.54 for regular and Q38.07 for diesel; Escuintla, Q36.20 for regular and Q37.73 for diesel; Antigua Guatemala, Q36.23 for regular and Q37.76 for diesel.

In Guastatoya, the regular one costs Q36.49 and the diesel, Q38.02; in Cobán, Q37.05 for regular and diesel, Q38.52; in Puerto Barrios, regular, Q36.20 and diesel, 37.73, while in Flores, Petén, regular Q37.49 and diesel Q39.02.

In these two weeks, diesel has increased Q5.18 per gallon, while regular gasoline, Q1.53.

If compared within three weeks, the increase in this fuel has been Q5.57, thus exceeding the subsidy of Q5 per gallon established by Decree 20-2022 that contains the Law of temporary social support for diesel consumers. and regular gasoline, a benefit that was established for 60 days.
