Government disburses Q311 million to pay bonus to teachers agreed with Joviel Acevedo's union

The first annual bonus for Q2,500 received teachers from the public sector as part of the negotiation of the collective agreement between the Union of Education Workers of Guatemala (Steg) and the Ministry of Education (Mineduc) carried out at the beginning of 2022.

One of the agreements established in the collective agreement is the delivery of an annual bonus of Q2,500, precisely in commemoration of Teacher's Day, which is this Saturday, June 25, in Guatemala.

The State Accounting System (Sicoin), registers an operation of Q311.3 million in the item: "specific complements to permanent personnel" of the Ministry of Education that accounts for the operation of the benefit.

Since May, the authorities of the Ministry of Finance had reported that this was one of the financial commitments for the teaching profession and that the resources would come from the education portfolio's own budget.

In July, the teachers and staff of the Ministry of Education will receive bonus 14.

The current budget of the Ministry of Education is Q20 thousand 608 million, which is the largest of the ministries in the Central Administration, and it has an execution of 45.56% with Q9 thousand 368 million as of this Saturday, June 25.

Anniversary bonus for the SAT

Last Thursday the staff of the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT) received the anniversary bonus that is equivalent to Q2,500, also established in the collective work agreement signed by Superintendent Marco Livio Díaz Reyes.

The benefit becomes effective on the day the tax administrator is founded, and it is estimated that more than Q10 million was disbursed to the staff.
